Often connecting to a PLC can be painful. Any change needs to be compiled, Citect restarted, and then you can test the connection. It would be very handy to have a tool in the Citect Studio that lets you play with parameters, IP addresses, a variable tag address etc, and perform a simple connection test.
The tool should let you save the parameters so they can be used in the Communication Forms in a project after.

Idea business value
There are many many integrators, customers etc who regularly find connecting to a PLC so difficult that they end up calling tech support to find out where they're going wrong. This would make Citect much easier to use. It would save a lot of time if we can make establishing connections to PLCs easier. |

One of the biggest headaches in CitectSCADA is the PLC connection, and difficulty in determining what is wrong. Other vendor packages are somewhat easier with the IO Server being a separate application that can provide more detail in a simpler format. IE RSLinx (but this has its own issues.. :))
