Currently digital variable tags only have OFF/ON state. Would be nice to be able to configure your own states, for instance Open / Close, or Stopped / Running. Much more meaning to these discrete values. Maybe add another property to the tag to read the current state value. Also push these values into the AVEVA Historian using the AVEVA Historian Plant SCADA Connector (Message Pair option in the properties)

Nathan, yes that's for this new double point status alarm. I'm pretty sure the current connector (3.1) doesn't use these state names for writing these alarms into the AVEVA Historian on the Message Paire property. All customer applications heavily use digital alarms. If you could define a state name 0 and 1 for these digital alarms then these names could be used by the AVEVA Historian Plant SCADA connector to write them to the Message Pair property. Having also a State Type for the digital alarms could really simplify applications. Do you have link to this Historian ideas page?
I believe that what you are looking for is already implemented by leveraging the new "Double Point Status Alarms" which is essentially a multi-digital alarm that can use custom state names and state types based on a single integer tag that was introduced in Plant SCADA 2023 R2. (The BETA is still posted for testing and more information on this feature if you would like to look into this newly added feature and if this meets your requirements. The Historian comments would need to be posted as a separate Idea to the Historian Ideas page within AHA for consideration.
Really missing that metadata in the Historian clients. I noticed that if I create a schema in AVEVA Historian and replace the ON/OFF captions with e.g. RUNNING/STOPPED, they are overwritten next time the Connector is restarted :-(
